Regulation

The Regulatory Compliance Bureau is responsible for the enforcement of Iowa’s alcohol laws in a fair and consistent manner. Education is the main focus.

Investigators and compliance officers inspect licensed establishments to help licensees understand and comply with Iowa Alcohol laws. Investigations are generated from complaints reported to the Bureau and through violations discovered during inspections of alcohol licensed establishments.

The Education and Outreach unit within the Regulatory Compliance Bureau is responsible for ensuring law enforcement and local officials are educated in the laws of Iowa’s alcoholic beverage industry. This unit works with state and local officials to address issues related to alcohol licensed establishments in their communities. Investigators and compliance officers are available to assist law enforcement agencies in liquor law enforcement at the local level. The Education and Outreach unit conducts educational presentations and external stakeholder training.
