The Iowa Department of Revenue has a new website, which merges tax.iowa.gov and abd.iowa.gov into the new revenue.iowa.gov

As the state’s revenue agency, the Department supports businesses across all sectors and has the operational  infrastructure to do so efficiently and effectively. As part of the State’s government alignment initiative, The Governor directed the Iowa Department of Revenue to align with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division and the Iowa Lottery Authority to become one agency.

Since alignment, the goal of the digital transformation state-wide initiative is to provide a consistent experience as Iowans navigate through their personal and business interactions with the State of Iowa government websites. The Department utilized a customer friendly approach to ensure we meet the needs of our stakeholders.

The new site includes an improved navigation by consolidating the two website processes and topics into a more streamlined direction. The homepage has been simplified, offering easy access to what you need to do quickly. The Department focuses all website improvement around customer feedback and data analytics to ensure we are providing what you need most.

“I’m excited about the launch of the new website for the Iowa Department of Revenue, and I welcome people to explore it,” Director Mary Mosiman said.“Revenue.iowa.gov is designed to be user-friendly for anyone searching topics related to Iowa tax and alcohol administration, and will also link you to the Iowa Lottery. Since we generate revenue that supports state government and serves the public, this website is a great way to connect us.”

Designed with both audiences in mind, the new website provides users with:

  • Simple home page.  Quick links to Department’s most-used applications and webpage, upcoming events, and recent news from the Department.

  • Combined navigation.  Navigate the website by what you need to do using I Need To…  Filing and checking status, Policy information, learn about key areas of the Department. Or dive into topics such as Taxes or Permits & Licensing for specific information.

  • Updated Tax Guidance.  Guidance is more clearly presented in a single location by tax types.

  • Frequently Asked Questions.  Get answers to common questions, narrowed down by topic for easily filtering.

With the launch of the new website, with new web address, users who have bookmarked previous pages related to Revenue or Alcoholic Beverages may need to update frequently accessed pages.
