Iowa Department of Revenue Director Mary Mosiman recently received the Patriot Award, which recognizes organizational leaders who provide outstanding support to Iowa Guard and Reserve members.
The Iowa Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented the Award to Mosiman at the Hoover Building in Des Moines.
Iowa ESGR Chair Becky Coady praised Mosiman and the Department. “Supportive employers like the Iowa Department of Revenue are vital to the success of our mission and the defense of this nation,” Coady said. “Our Guard and Reserve members could not perform their military duty without knowing their civilian employers, and leaders like Director Mosiman, support them 100%”
Mosiman said she was incredibly honored and accepted the Award on behalf of the Department. “I am so pleased to receive this award, but I see it as recognition for the entire Department of Revenue. We are very proud and supportive of our employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve – and grateful for their service to the country.”
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. ESGR Awards are issued through the Department of Defense and are presented to recipients by ESGR volunteers.
Iowa Army National Guard First Sergeant Rachael Krier, the Department’s Organizational Change Management Lead, nominated Mosiman for the Award. “Director Mosiman is incredibly supportive of my service in the Guard. She takes the time to understand my commitment and my responsibilities as a first sergeant,” Krier said. “She also has a genuine interest in the success of my career and the success of my military unit, as do other Department leaders.”
